The Correspondence Study Division, originally called the Home Study Division, was founded in 1922 by Frederick Siedenburg, S.J., and began with ten courses. The division was founded "in order to furnish the opportunity for study and development to men and women unable to attend the school as resident students". In 1923 William H.
